For a living room remodel in Leça da Palmeira, Portugal, we created a custom bookcase using lacquered MDF.  This bookshelf takes advantage of an “L” shaped area, providing a blend of stability and visual lightness. 
The base features closed cabinets for storing larger books, offering a sense of density that transitions to open shelves above. The top shelf is designed with greater height to impart a feeling of lightness.

The bookcase’s regular structure is enhanced by two exceptional elements with a dark blue background, adding flexibility for different types of objects. Integrated lighting behind each shelf further accentuates the design, creating a balanced and illuminated focal point for the room.
